Holidays prompt waterborne passenger traffic boom
2024-10-09 10:38:00
On October 7, it was learned from the Yichang Maritime Bureau that, during the National Day holidays, waterborne passenger traffic in Yichang surged to a peak, totaling 161,800 passenger trips. Among these, cruise ship (tourism) passenger trips amounted to 74,400, with intra-harbor cruise ships and inter-provincial passenger vessels as the primary modes of transportation. Notably, the intra-harbor cruise trips accounted for 67,600, an astonishing 91.4% of the total cruise ship traffic. This tourism surge was largely attributed to the popularity of the programs of “Tour to Gezhouba Dam and Three Gorges Dam via Xiling Gorge” and “Night Cruise on Yangtze River.”

During the holidays, the Yichang Maritime Bureau dispatched a total of 256 law enforcement personnel and conducted 113 on-site patrols, and such efforts have secured the transportation of nearly 908,000 tons of essential goods by 508 ships, marking an increase of 67.1% and 125.9% respectively compared to the same period during last year’s Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays and the stable growth of water traffic safety in Yichang.
