First infectious disease precision detection center in SW Hubei opens
2024-10-18 10:48:12
On October 10, the Precision Detection Center of Yichang Third People’s Hospital officially opened, marking the establishment of the first infectious disease precision detection center in southwestern Hubei province.

It was learned that the center, situated on the first floor of the hospital’s comprehensive inpatient building, with an area of 230m2 and boasts over 20 advanced technology platforms, including Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and PCR. The center focuses on the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, conducting tests for more than 200 pathogens that may cause FUO (fever of unknown origin) or unknown infections. It has enabled local high-throughput sequencing of pathogenic microorganisms and standardized outsourcing detection projects, allowing for the simultaneous detection of dozens to hundreds of common pathogenic microorganisms and their resistance genes in samples. The types of specimens accepted include respiratory tract samples, blood, cerebrospinal fluid, pleural and peritoneal fluid, urine, pus, and bone marrow aspirate.

The opening of the Precision Detection Center provides robust support for the early detection of infectious diseases, the diagnosis and treatment of infectious conditions, and the alerting of public health events. It fosters the sharing of high-quality medical resources in southwestern Hubei and leads the transformation of infectious disease diagnosis and treatment towards targeted, specific, and precise approaches. By offering high-quality medical services including precise detection, diagnosis, medication, and treatment, the center further advances the development of “Precision Medicine”.
