The Yichang Municipal Center for Park and Garden Construction and Management recently announced that the Juanqiaohe Wetland Eco-conservation and Restoration Project, implemented by the center, has been included in the list of Model Cases in the Second Batch of Integrated Conservation and Restoration of Mountains, Rivers, Forests, Farmlands, Lakes, Grasslands, and Deserts (Second Batch). The list was co-released by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
The Juanqiaohe Wetland Eco-conservation and Restoration Project is among the 63 integrated conservation and restoration projects targeting mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands, and deserts in the Three Gorges area along the Yangtze River. The project adheres to the principles of prioritizing conservation, protection, and natural restoration, aiming for comprehensive management and systematic restoration. Through the implementation of a series of measures, the project has improved 6 kilometers of river channels and addressed soil erosion affecting over 1.78 million square meters. Additionally, a four-level water purification system has been established, significantly enhancing the self-purification capacity of lakes and improving water quality.
