Yichang’s foreign trade imports and exports rise 11.4% in first three quarters

  According to Yichang Customs, Yichang’s total value of imports and exports amounted to 33.11 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 11.4% and surpassing the provincial average by 2.9 percentage points. Among them, exports totaled 25.37 billion yuan, a decrease of 2%, while imports reached 7.74 billion yuan, up 102.9%.

  In the first three quarters, Yichang’s imports and exports via general trade amounted to 27.33 billion yuan, up 13.6% and accounting for 82.5% of the city’s total.

  Imports and exports via processing trade reached 2.16 billion yuan, up 0.5% and accounting for 6.5% of the city’s total. Imports and exports via bonded logistics amounted to 1.64 billion yuan, up 2.5% and accounting for 4.9% of the city’s total.

  Private enterprises handled imports and exports of 24.37 billion yuan, up 15.4% and accounting for over 70% of the total. State-owned enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises handled imports and exports of 5.58 billion yuan and 3.17 billion yuan respectively, accounting for 16.8% and 9.6% respectively.

  Yichang’s top three trade partners during the period were the ASEAN countries, the European Union countries, and the United States, with imports and exports of 7.23 billion yuan, 3.69 billion yuan and 2.96 billion yuan respectively, up 39.7%, 21.3%, and 30.5% respectively. Imports and exports with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative amounted to 17.2 billion yuan, up 13.2% and accounting for 52% of the total; imports and exports with other RCEP member countries reached 11.5 billion yuan, up 30.1% and accounting for 34.7%.

  Mechanical and electrical products, labor-intensive products and agricultural products were the main export products, with exports of 4.48 billion yuan, 2.87 billion yuan, and 1.28 billion yuan, respectively. Agricultural products, mechanical and electrical products, and metal ores were the main import products. Imports of agricultural products amounted to 1.73 billion yuan, up 375.7%. Among them, imports of dried and fresh fruits and nuts totaled 1.32 billion yuan, a 30.9-fold increase. Imports of mechanical and electrical products amounted to 1.32 billion yuan, and imports of metal ores reached 630 million yuan. (Reporter/Yang Jing, Correspondent/ Huang Qian)
