Two Yangtze Dams’ throughput hits record in January

Since the start of the Spring Festival travel rush, the Three Gorges Dam and the Gezhouba Dam have seen a surge in ship and passenger traffic. Data from the Yangtze River Three Gorges Navigation Administration shows that in January 2025, the Three Gorges hubs handled over 13.7 million tons of cargo and nearly 7,800 passengers, both setting all-time highs. The throughput via the ship lock of the Three Gorges Dam exceeded 13.5 million tons, setting a record high for the same period in history.
