Thirty more senior meal service centers to be set up in 2025
2025-02-28 08:41:48
According to the Yichang Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs, Yichang has been actively expanding its senior meal service network since 2019 to address dining difficulties faced by elderly residents, particularly those who are aged, living alone or in need. Various meal service models have been explored, including third-party operations, partnerships with catering enterprises, and opening elderly care facility canteens to the public.

As of now, Yichang has established 197 senior meal service centers, including happiness canteens, senior dining centers and elderly meal stations, with 91 of them located in urban areas. These facilities serve over 3.5 million senior residents annually.

In 2025, Yichang plans to build at least 30 new senior meal service centers, with over 1,500 dining seats added, to achieve full coverage of senior meal services in both urban and rural communities. This initiative aims to provide elderly residents with easy access to nutritious meals right in their neighborhoods. (Reporters/Shi Gang and Wang Zi, Correspondents/Liu Lirong and Zhan Xiaoyun)
