At 4 p.m. on March 27, the self-developed 12-meter-span gantry-style construction 3D printer of China Three Gorges University completed its final printing task at the university's testing site, achieving the completion of a two-story structure. The 8-meter-tall building, covering 100 square meters, commenced printing in early March and was completed in under a month.
With three years of dedicated work, CTGU researchers have addressed a series of pressing problems in the development of the 3D printer for large-scale building purposes, including precision control, structural continuity, printing consistency and overall stability. This successful trial marks the printer’s transition from laboratory prototype to industrial-ready equipment, paving the way for commercialization. (Reporter/Ma Lin, Correspondent/Li Zhengchao)
