Recently, the 2024 National Science and Technology Major Projects for the Prevention and Treatment of Cancer, Cardiovascular, Respiratory and Metabolic Diseases were announced, with the project of “Digital Intelligence Collaborative Major Chronic Disease Comprehensive Prevention and Treatment System Construction and Regional Demonstration” included. Backed by a total budget of 150 million yuan, 30 million yuan of which will be funded by the state, the project is led by Professor Yang Jian’s team from China Three Gorges University and Yichang Central People’s Hospital. It was jointly applied for by 10 institutions, including the Chronic Disease Center of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Beijing Hospital and the Yichang Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Notably, this marks the only project of its kind secured by a prefecture-level city in central China. Additionally, it represents the first time Yichang Central People’s Hospital has been approved as the leading institution for a national science and technology major project.
