On August 24, according to Yichang Sports School, Liu Yafei, an outstanding female shooter from Yichang trained by the school, helped the Chinese team claim the gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle (senior category) team qualification round at the 16th Asian Shooting Championships 2025 in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on August 22.

　　Liu, with herteammates,Peng Xinlu and Zhang Liyuan, secured the title with a total of 1,902.0 points, setting a new world record in the event.In the individual qualification round earlier, Liu dominated with 635.4 points to top the rankings, advancing to the finals and breaking the Asian record in the process.(Reporter/Shi Gang, Correspondents/Lei Jia and Zhu Xin’gen)
