The first batch of early-ripening mandarins from Yichang was processed at the standardized export workshop of Yunhong Citrus Cooperative in Yaqueling Town, Yiling District on September 5. After undergoing multi-level grading through automated equipment, the mandarins were packed and shipped to Russia and other overseas markets.
As the main citrus-producing area in Yichang, Yiling District expects its total citrus output to exceed 860,000 tons this year, with early-ripening mandarins accounting for about 15 percent. Known for their exceptional quality, the early-ripening mandarins this year boast a sugar content of over 12 degrees, well-proportioned shapes, and a refreshing taste. Orders from Russia, Canada, and Thailand have been pouring in, underscoring the growing global appeal of Yichang citrus. (Reporter/Zhou Zhongyu, Correspondent/Yan Shijie)
