On September 11, the intelligent factory of Yichang Marine Diesel Engine Co Ltd located in the industrial park near Yichangbei Railway Station, entered the final stage of equipment installation and is expected to commence production soon.

　　The company has successfully developed cylinder liners made from vermicular graphite cast iron, breaking the long-standing technological monopoly held by Western countries. This innovation addresses a critical bottleneck in China’s marine engine manufacturing and enhances the security of the industrial supply chain.

　　Once operational, the facility will become Central China’s first “5G+AI” intelligent green casting center, with an annual production capacity of 50,000 metric tons and an annual output value exceeding one billion yuan.
