Yichang’s foreign trade in first 8 months surges

  In the first eight months of the year, Yichang recorded a total import-export value of 36.76 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 24.9%. The export value rose by 32.2% to 29.67 billion yuan, and the import value saw a modest increase of 1.4%, amounting to 7.09 billion yuan. Trade with key partners such as ASEAN and Brazil stood at 9.19 billion yuan (up 41.2%) and 4.32 billion yuan (up 100.5%), respectively. Furthermore, trade with the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative grew significantly by 38.9% to 24.54 billion yuan, constituting 66.8% of the total trade, and the trade with other RCEP member countries also increased by 27.8%, reaching 13.17 billion yuan and accounting for 35.8% of the total.
