On November 8, the “Shuifu Port – Yichang” container liner route started its maiden voyage from Shuifu Port on the Jinsha River, a tributary of the Yangtze River in Yunnan Province. This marks the efficient integration of Shuifu Port, “the first port on the 10,000-kilometer Yangtze River”, with Yichang, where amajor hub port is locatedin the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
Strategically situated at the intersection of the Yangtze River economic belt, the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle, and the central Yunnan urban agglomeration, Shuifu Port boasts prominent locational advantage. The port now operates six specialized berths, supported by dedicated railway lines and a logistics park, giving it comprehensive multimodal transport capabilities. Its annual cargo throughput has surpassed ten million tons.
Spanning 1,200 kilometers with a voyage time of only 10 days, the new route enables direct cargo delivery through the “golden waterway” of the Yangtze River. By adopting innovative models like converting bulk cargo to containers and multimodal transport, the route will enhance Shuifu Port’s role as an upper-reach logistics hub. It offers a green and efficient solution for regional freight transportation, serving as an economic link between Yunnan and Hubei that also connects surrounding areas. (From Sanxia Daily)
