Yichang citrus exports exceed one billion yuan
2026-01-22 09:45:21

According to Yichang Customs, a total of 194,000 metric tons of Yichang citrus were exported in 2025, valued at 1.09 billion yuan. This representsyear-on-year increasesof 14% in volume and 7% in value, both reaching record highs. Consequently, Yichangremained among the top nationwide in citrus exports.

Yichang is the only major citrus-producing area in China capable of supplying fresh citrus year-round, providing export markets with a stable source of high-quality fruit. In 2025, Yichang Customs set up a dedicated task force for citrus exports, incorporating export requirements early into the planting and processing stages. As a result, 72 orchards and 58packing facilities completed the required standardization and registration proceduresfor export, marking a significant year-on-year increase.

To address challenges such as the fruit’s short shelf life and tight shipping schedules, Yichang Customs introduced real-time interaction with enterprises via high-definition video, enabling “immediate application and inspection.” This measure improved inspection efficiency more than fivefold. Customs also advanced the online issuance of inspection and quarantine certificates, reducing processing time to minutes. Additionally, they implemented a flexible appointment-based inspection system available on both weekdays and weekends, along with a green channel to expedite cargo consolidation at the port.(Hubei Daily: Reporter/Li Renxi, Correspondent/Sun Furong)
