In 2025, Yichang’s total electricity consumption reached 29.269 billion kWh, with industrial electricity consumption hitting 20.414 billion kWh, both ranking second in Hubei Province, and the respective growth rates of 8.18% and 9.79% also placed Yichang at the forefront provincially.
This increase was primarily driven by the concentrated commissioning and operational efficiency of major projects, exemplified by the Yichang BRUNP-CATL Project and the Chuneng New Energy (Yichang) Lithium Battery Industrial Park Project, which fueled rapid electricity demand in key sectors such as green chemical engineering and new energy batteries. At the same time, significant progress in industrial restructuring is reflected in declining electricity usage in some traditional high-consumption industries, highlighting the effective transition of the local economy away from outdated growth drivers toward new ones. The data sugest Yichang’s strong development momentum, characterized by sustained economic expansion and continuous structural optimization. (Sanxia Daily: Reporters/Gao Wei, Yang Jing and Deng Yuqin)
