A recent city-level meeting on the automotive industry designated automobiles and equipment manufacturing as one of Yichang’s “six leading industries,” marking a firm step forward from an auto industry to a strong auto industry.

　　With access to the golden waterway of the Yangtze River and an integrated “water-rail-road-air” multimodal transport system, “Yichang-made” vehicles benefit from a 20% improvement in logistics efficiency and a 30% reduction in costs.The GAC Yichang plant has an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles and has already begun producing new energy MPVs locally. Benefiting from its strengths in the phosphorus chemical industry, Yichang is promoting the on-site conversion of phosphorus resources into battery materials and power batteries, with companies such as Cornex New Energy Co Ltd and the Yichang BRUNP-CATL Project capable of meeting the battery needs ofover 4 million new energy vehicles annually. Since the first “Trumpchi GA6” rolled off the assembly line in 2019, Yichang has produced and sold over 520,000 vehicles in just seven years.
