On March 31, the 10,000-mu Lei bamboo plantation in Yuan’an County entered its peak harvest season. At the same time, the centralized production and deep processing of Lei bamboo shoots began at the workshop of Hubei Jiaoye Green Food Co Ltd in Beimen Village, Mingfeng Town, Yuan’an County.

　　Several years ago, villagers in Beimen Village were encouraged to plant Lei bamboo, and they responded positively. Over the years, they have increased their incomes and achieved prosperity through the Lei bamboo industry, with the village’s total annual output value of Lei bamboo products reaching 2.5 million yuan. Hubei Jiaoye Green Food Co Ltd, using its self-developed low-temperature preservation technology, produces 150 metric tons of fresh bamboo shoots per day, with products exported to Malaysia, Japan, and the Republic of Korea. The company works with farmers and cooperatives to produce over 1,300 metric tons of bamboo shoot products each year, launching products such as bamboo shoot egg cake and bamboo shoot smoothie, achieving an annual output value of 20 million yuan.
