Recently, the Zigui section of the Maoping Port Dedicated Railway for the Three Gorges Hub has fully entered its post-construction phase, with overall progress exceeding 99%. Track laying is set to begin on July 7, and full track connection of the whole line is expected to be achieved by the end of September. The railway is anticipated to reach trial operation conditions by the end of the year. Upon completion, the comprehensive transportation system of the Three Gorges will realize seamless “water-highway-rail” multimodal connectivity. Currently, a supporting new cargo transshipment model has taken preliminary shape, and the “Zigui Port-Yidu Port” container “water-highway-water” corridor has been put into operation, enabling goods from Sichuan and Chongqing to save 7 to 15 days of waiting time at the ship locks.
