During the May Day holiday, both passenger flow and flight volume at the port of Yichang Sanxia International Airport reached historic highs for the holiday period. From May 1 to 5, the Sanxia Airport Border Inspection Station handled 3,185 inbound and outbound passenger trips and 25 flights, representing year-on-year increases of 55.4% and 47.1%, respectively — both setting new May Day holiday records. As of May 5, the station has cumulatively processed 42,000 inbound and outbound passenger trips and 305 flights this year, with foreign tourists accounting for nearly 52.4% of the total. These visitors come primarily from countries such as South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam, with tourism and business exchanges being their main purposes of entry. This reflects a strong recovery in Yichang’s inbound tourism market and steady improvement in its openness. (Sanxia Daily: Reporter/Wang Ying, Correspondents/Zhong Gaosheng and Zhong Pengyu)
