On May 12, a public stock enhancement event for Chinese sturgeon was held at the Yidu Green Intelligent Ship Industrial Park, where 2,600 juveniles were released into the Yangtze River in the Yidu section, returning to the embrace of their mother river. The Chinese sturgeon is anationalfirst-classprotectedaquaticwildanimal. It serves as a flagship species of the Yangtze River ecosystem and is often referred to as the “giant panda of the water.” The juveniles released this time are second-generation Chinese sturgeon bred by the Yangtze River Fisheries Research Institute, ranging in size from 20 to 40 centimeters.
