Yichang, the sole representative of Hubei Province, showcased its biodiversity conservation achievements and innovative practices at the Asia-Pacific Sub-regional Seminar on International Science and Technology Cooperation for Biodiversity held in Nanjing from May 23 to 24. Situated in the core area of the ecological barrier in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River, Yichang has actively implemented the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and upheld the principle of “jointly advancing ecological conservation.”The city has built six national ecological civilization demonstration zones and two “Two Mountains”practice innovation bases. It has been rated “excellent”for four consecutive years in Hubei Province’s pollution prevention and control assessments, and its biodiversity conservation work has been selected as national outstanding cases four times. Additionally, Yichang took the lead across Hubei Province in launching a comprehensive biodiversity baseline survey, with a total investment of over 40 million yuan. Researchers discovered five new species, including Boulenophrys dalaolingensis and Deconica ovispora, filling gaps in relevant domestic research.
