On June 18, the 2026 Cross-Strait Qu Yuan Cultural Exchange Event commenced in Zigui County. More than 200 people from Taiwan attended the event, including descendants of the Qu family from Taiwan, the New Party delegation, the grassroots officials and villagers from Taiwan’s Gongguan township in Miaoli county and a youth exchange group, all gathering in Qu Yuan’s hometown to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival together.

The participants took part in a solemn memorial ceremony and paid their respects at the Qu Yuan Memorial Temple, savored classic works of Chu poetry, viewed an exhibition on cross-strait exchange achievements, and watched the folk musical dance drama “The Grand Dragon Boat Festival,”immersing themselves in the Dragon Boat Festival culture of the Three Gorges region. They also visited a local agricultural group and a migration museum to learn about the development of specialty industries and the stories of the Three Gorges resettlers. On June 19, the Taiwan attendees will take part in ancestral reunion activities and folk experiences such as making Zongzi (rice dumplings) and hanging sachets, fostering emotional bonds between compatriots on both sides of the strait.
