At the summer travel season, Yichang Sanxia International Airport has recorded a notable increase in unaccompanied minors, with the number rising by more than 30% year-on-year, reflecting the growing popularity of the airport’s dedicated service for young solo travelers.
To ensure a safe and hassle-free journey for children traveling alone, the airport has set up exclusive check-in counters where all procedures, including identity verification, baggage drop-off and information registration, can be completed in one stop. The unaccompanied minor service is available for children aged 5 to under 12 traveling without accompanying adult(s).
In addition, the airport provides each unaccompanied minor with a dedicated identification badge that clearly displays flight details and contact information for both the sending and receiving parties, enabling airport staff at all work stations to quickly recognize and attend to these young passengers. Meanwhile, the children’s play area in the departure lounge remains open throughout the day to help alleviate any anxiety associated with solo travel.
