“Honghu water is grand, chasing waves rush to the sand, by the riverside resides my homeland”...On the evening of December 27, a cultural promoting performance by the Hubei Opera and Dance Drama Theater was held in Yichang, treating the audience with the classic opera The Red Guards on Honghu Lake. At the performance site, the well-known and deeply-loved songs, popular and familiar character modeling, vivid and exquisite performances bring the fans to relive the feelings of the red revolution.

　　The opera “The Red Guards on Honghu Lake”narrates the story of the local Honghu Red Guards, led by Party secretaryHan Ying (female) andCaptainLiu Chuang, who dealt a heavy blow to the counterrevolutionaries in Honghu area, Hubei Province. After the temporary withdrawal of the Second Corps of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army led by He Long in a seesaw battle during the second revolutionary civil war in the 1930s , Han Ying and Liu Chuang’s story shows the unswerving revolutionary belief and arduous struggle spirit of the revolutionary predecessors.
