Recently, the construction of the Yichang Yangtze River Rail-Road Bridge was continuingaround the clock, with worksites illuminated through the night and heavy machinesoperating in synchronized precision to maintain rapid progress.
Running parallel to the existing Yichang-Wanzhou Railway Bridge, thenew bridge is a critical partof the Yichang-Fuling section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway alongthe Yangtze River. Spanning 2,782m, the bridge features an 800-meter steel cable-stayed main span designed to minimize disruption to the habitat of endangered Chinese sturgeon. The bridge includes an upper deck with four railway tracks for high-speed rail, a lower deck with a six-lane urban arterial road, and reserved space for future light rail transit on both sides. Upon completion, this bridge will set a world record as the combined rail-transit structure with the highest number of railway tracks and urban transit lines. (Correspondent/Wang Geng)
