Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition held for New Year celebration
2026-02-19 09:05:47

On February 7, the 2026 Yichang Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Exhibition for Chinese New Year celebrations was launched in Xiling District. Through diverse forms such as event schedule releases, performances, and market fairs, the exhibition demonstrated Yichang’s well-preserved intangible cultural heritage in the Wuling Mountain area.

The event featured a wide array of activities. It launched a range of intangible cultural heritage-inspired products, spanning 12 categories such as scarves, hair accessories and handbags and released the schedule of over 40 ICH-themed Spring Festival celebration activities, including the traditional Lantern Festival and the Xiling Temple Fair. Besides, a special “Tourism+ICH+Study Tour” themed route was introduced, along with a fashion display that blended Xilankapu elements of Tujia ethnic weaving culture with fashionable design. In addition, a dedicated ICH market was set up, where visitors could view, try and purchase crafts, and inheritors were invited to demonstrate skills like paper-cutting and weaving on-site. Visitors could also check out interactive photo spots to snap pictures and immerse themselves in the unique festive atmosphere inspired by intangible cultural heritage.
