On July 13, a section of the Dangyang-Zhijiang-Songzi Expressway project in Zhijiang is seen under construction.

　　Currently, the Zhijiang Yangtze River Bridge as the core control project of the expressway has fully transitioned to the finebridgedeckpavementphase, racing toward its target of opening to traffic in the second half of 2026. Upon completion, travel time from Bailizhou to downtown Zhijiang will be shortened from the current 2 hours by ferry to just 5 minutes. At the same time, the expressway will link three major highways: Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway, Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway and Yueyang-Yichang Expressway. This connection will not only reduce the logistics cost of local agricultural products such as sand pears by about 30%, but also significantly improves the expressway network connectivity of the Yichang-Jingzhou-Jingmen Metropolitan Circle, unlocking critical arteries for coordinated regional development.
