2014-08-26 08:31:27

Recently, the staff are observing the growth status of the rare plants in the lab of the Three Gorges Nursery Research Center. The Center was established by the China Three Gorges Group in July 2007 to protect the endangered and endemic plants at the Three Gorges Reservoir Area. Currently, the Three Gorges Endemic Germplasm Nursery of the Center has introduced 224 endemic species of the Three Gorges Reservoir area, with a total of more than 13,000 plants and the survival rate of over 90%, hence it has become a "museum" for rare plants. According to Huang Guiyun from the Three Gorges Nursery Research Center, the Center is also exploring on the bulk culture of many other rare and endemic plants at the Three Gorges Reservoir area and other areas in China and has achieved initial results.    Photo by Liang Jianqiang, Xinhua News Agency reporter
