In operation: 347 buses are put into the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system. During the highest peak BRT buses run every four minutes.

The handheld bus data will be updated within three days.

Buses in Line 1 and workers are prepared and arranged well, according to the information from Yichang Bus Corporation. 

The officers in the corporation told us that 347 buses were operated, 185 of which were buses specially designed for BRT. There were 700 bus drivers, 160 bus instructors and more than 900 traffic transportation officers who offered volunteering services in 42 stations.

There were 425 buses and 2147 runs in total on July 15th. The operating hours were 5:20am to 23:00pm. During peak hours the interval between two buses was just 4 to 5 minutes; during non-peak hour 5 to 6 minutes; at night 10 to 12 minutes. The system was closed after 11pm and the bus interval was 40 minutes long.

Till 7pm of July 14, the instructors in 42 stations had checked all equipments. Intellectual dispatching system, safety door system and fare collection system were fully prepared for operation.

Due to the operation of BRT, the related routes were adjusted to some degree. The data in the handheld bus system were changed greatly from 15th. All information will be updated within two or three days. (Reporters: Yan XiaoDong, Xu Aimin)

Construction: 22 bus stations have been built; 3 underpasses and 5 pedestrian bridges are opened; Intellectual Guiding Transportation and Passengers System is to be improved.

The BRT route from Dongshan Dadao to Gezhouba Loop have been finished after construction for one year, reported from the BRT Construction Command Office in July 14. 

Last June, the BRT project in Dongshan Dadao began its construction. By the end of last year, the BRT route from Ge Zhouba to Yichang East Train Station was completed and put into operation; so far, 22 bus stations and the three systems as well as three underground pedestrian bridges along the route were built and put into use. They will be accessible till the night on July 13th. The two pedestrian bridges, with one in the Yichang No. 22 Middle School and the other in Lvluo Road, were built and updated. The other three pedestrian bridges, which were in Guo YuanErlu, Bei Shanpo and Shi Mapo, were basically assessable in the day. After 11pm, they will continue to be constructed and improved.

The officers in the Headquarters said that the Intellectual Guiding Transportation and Passengers System was gradually improved. The traffic volume will be tested; the Passenger Guiding system will be improved. The Headquarter welcomed all suggestions from society during the test runs.

Guarantee: more than 600 policemen on the road, the traffic fence and traffic signs were equipped; three types of unlawful traffic behaviors will be strictly punished. 

“With the opening of BRT system and BRT monitoring System, the traffic policemen including the team leader Liu Wei will be on duty along the route at 5:20 on July 20th”, reported from the Traffic Police Station. 

In the 13 kilometers ranges from Yichang East Train Station to Gezhouba Loop Road, one Video Cams was installed every 300 meters. The 45 traffic lights have been put into operation, which can capture the traffic scene in the crossroad and undertake the digital road patrol work. The 50000m security partition fences as well as the traffic signs in the BRT main road were basically installed. The traffic signs in the intersections have been installing.

During the morning traffic peaking hours on July 15, more than 600 policemen including auxiliary policemen were on duty in the BRT route. The team leaders of traffic police station have been responsible for the traffic safety of the regions; the group leaders for roads; the squadron leaders for important crossroads. All of them will maintain the traffic order in the BRT main road.

Some officers said that during the test run, the traffic police will supervise the occupying-BRT special road behavior, illegal parking, the non-slowing down behavior when crossing the pedestrian, etc. (Reporters: Yan Xiaodong; Wang Yong)
