On the evening of May 18, the Second Yichang Art Festival opened in Zigui County. Xu Shangwen, deputy inspector of Provincial Department of Culture, and Shang Kui, Wang Yinghua and Huang Huining who were municipal leaders of Yichang, attended the opening ceremony. Shang Kui announced the opening of the Second Yichang Art Festival.

　　Yichang was the only city, which held Art Festival in the whole province, and it has held the First Yichang Art Festival successfully in 2014. After the opening of the Second Yichang Art Festival, a series of activities would start one after another in the urban areas of Yichang from June to September to show, in a concentrated way, new achievements of the cultural undertakings development of Yichang in recent three years. And these activities included the selection of “Yichang Splendor Award”(for professional theatrical artworks), selection of “Yichang Galaxy Award”(for amateur artists and community culture), centralized people-benefit performances and exhibitions of works like excellent dramas or plays, art, calligraphy, photography, etc.

　　n a crucial period of being constructed as the national regional central city and provincial sub-center city, and its literature and art undertakings were facing with the important historical opportunity of great development and prosperity. We hoped, with joint efforts of all sides, to show abundant achievements of the development of the literature and art undertakings of Yichang in an all-round way and motivate full-hearted creative enthusiasm of many literature and art workers through this festival, meeting the spiritual and cultural demands of many people, and gathering enormous strength to promote the healthy development of the economic society of Yichang.
