---Snapshots for Yichang 16th Adolescents Science & Technology Festival
The “little inventors” from Hengdian Primary School in Xiannv Town, Zhijiang are demonstrating their model airplanes.
From March 24 to March 25, Yichang 16th Adolescents Science & Technology Festival was held in Yichang No.1 Senior High School. 12,000 students from over 200 senior and primary schools participated in six competitive events, including car model, model airplane, Rubic’s Cube, electronic production and tangram. All of them harvest joy and let their dreams fly in this activity.
Hand in Hand to Aim High
Contestants from Dangyang Experimental Primary School participated in the Rubik's cube competition. At the end of the match, the reporter learned that some students had prepared one or two years. Apart from the two classes, every Friday afternoon, they also spent spare time training.
Walking through the activity sites on the campus of Yichang No. 1 Senior High School, we feel the sun shining brightly at noon, just as the joyful and exciting children's faces. Although the result of the game has not come out, everyone's manners and behaviors all revealed self-confidence and expectations. What is hidden in such self-confidence is the perseverance and dedication from mutual encouragement and unremitting efforts.
Match For Joy, Compete For Dream
At the Tangram competition, there were a group of contestants afar from Xingshan County Foreign Language Elementary School. Led by teacher, 7 students completed the match successfully. Last October, Xingshan County held the First Session Adolescents Science and Technology Festival, and the outstanding contestants were selected to take part in this municipal festival’s competition. Among the 7 contestants, there are the first and second prize winners of the last Festival Tangram Project, the strength is remarkable.
In the preparatory stage, they used the lunch break one hour a day to assemble and dismantle the tangram pieces again and again according to reference materials appointed by the organizers. It is in this practice day by day that they spelled the bright smile with their hands for themselves and for all those who hope for them.
Independent Preparation, Confident Contest
Shao Di is a senior student from Yichang Science and Technology High school. He participated in the roller coaster race in robot competition with his team mates Zhang Xinge and Yang Yizhu.
Speaking of preparations before the competition, they said they made the most of the class time in their school's science and technology to make the model and debug over 100 times. It took them nearly 3 months to complete the work.
Instructor Yang Wei said with pride, "During preparation, I just played the role of supervision and guidance. They basically made and debug by themselves. Because of some uncertain factors that may occur in the contest, the angle of the roller coaster track might change, which requires them to debug the track again during the contest. I try not to interfere in the training and let them do it independently.”
It was also with such sufficient preparation that Mr Yang and his 3 students were confident about the result: "We have made the great performance with no regrets!"(Reporter: Li Yang, Zhang Tao; Correspondent: Zhou Lin; Reporter: Huang Chunmei)
