Yichang Lights up “EU Blue”
2018-05-28 15:11:00

The picture shows on the night of 9th, Yichang Natural Tower, "Yangtze River Three Gorges" Night Cruise Ship and Qu Yuan's Hometown are lighted up by the "EU Blue", injecting a different "international color" into Yichang’s night sky.

At 19 p.m. on May 9th, the bright blue lights up the Natural Tower, the "Yangtze River Three Gorges" Night Cruise Ship and Qu Yuan's Hometown, rendering the night of Yichang into a charming "international style". It marked the debut of the "EU Blue" in Yichang.

May 9th is the "European Day". For celebration, China Tourist Attractions Association, founding member of the World Tourism Alliance, selected qualified scenic spots in some key cities to hold the activity of “Lighting up Lamps and Bridges” of the 2018 "China—EU Tourism Year" at around the "European Day". Through application and screening, 32 landmark scenic spots in 18 cities, such as Yichang, Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Hangzhou and Shenzhen, were bestowed the qualification of "EU Blue". Yichang is the only selected prefecture level city in our province.

On the evening, the Natural Tower, different from its usual warm yellow, was shining blue. The beautiful blue of the "Yangtze River Three Gorges" Night Cruise Ship and the ship lock add radiance to each other as the cruise ship passed the Gezhouba Dam ship lock. And Qu Yuan's Hometown glittered with "Blue Enchantment". To help the "EU Blue" activity, the 3 scenic spots rebuilt lighting facilities to bring about the best visual effect.

According to the staff of the organizing committee of the activity, Yichang was chosen mainly because it has become one of the most important tourist destinations for European guests. Over the past five years, the European and American tourists have taken up over 50% of the inbound tourists, and the 3 countries of Germany, Britain and France rank top ten of the inbound tourists to our city. Taking part in the "EU Blue" activity will further enhance Yichang’s international image as a tourist city and lay a good foundation for the city to enter the World Tourism Alliance and speed up the construction of Yichang as the world's famous city of hydropower tourism.

It is understood that the three scenic spots that participated in the lighting up activity integrated the most representative elements of Yichang tourism, such as the Three Gorges Dam, Qu Yuan, the Yangtze River Three Gorges and other elements. These were the best representatives of Yichang tourism in its endeavor to go international.

In March this year, the EU held the "China Red" lighting up activity at more than 60 landmark buildings and major scenic spots in 18 member states including Belgium, France, Spain, Italy and so on at around the Lantern Festival of China. The "EU Blue" lighting up activity is an important event organized by the World Tourism Alliance under the framework of the 2018 "China-EU Tourism Year".
