The 2018 final event of Hubei’s dragon boat sports—the 10th Hubei Dragon Boat Race— was held on December 13 in the harbor of Zhaxi River, Shuitianba township, Zigui county.

　　Twelve 22-member dragon boat teams from Wuhan, Xuan’en, Hanchuan, Zhushan, Xianning, Yichang and other places competed in the dragon boat race. The flying paddles hit the water and the dragon boats chased each other, letting people feel thrilled on the cold winter day.

　　Themed “Promoting Everyone's Interest in Sports and Creating a Better Life”, this year's dragon boat race is sponsored by Hubei Administration of Sports and Hubei Sports Federation. The Water Sports Management Center of Hubei Administration of Sports, Hubei Longzhou Association, Yichang Sports Bureau and the People's Government of Zigui County undertook the event. More than a thousand people from all over the province, including enthusiasts of dragon boat races and self-driving tourists, witnessed the sports event.

　　This was the first time that a provincial-level large-scale dragon boat race had been held in a township. The venue of this competition, Shuitianba township, Zigui county, is known as “China’s Orange Valley and Leisure Town”. The time of the competition was exactly when picking of the local Changhong and Newhall Navel oranges started and the navel orange picking tour was held as a supporting activity. During the dragon boat race, many e-commerce enterprises were selling oranges on the riverbank, and the cultural connotation of Zigui as "China’s hometown of dragon boats" and "China’s hometown of navel oranges" has been fully displayed. The two special elements of "dragon boats" and "navel oranges" have been integrated perfectly.
