
From July 12 to 14, the “the Belt and Road Initiative”2019 International Basketball Three vs ThreeChallenge on Yichang site and the Three vs Three Basketball U23 Countries League of FIBA were held in Chaotianhou Scenic Area, Xingshan County.
After three-day fierce competition, the players from Serbia won the first place in the three vs threechallenge and those from Russia won the second. The first place in men’s group in the League was won by the Russians, and the second by the Belarusians while the first place in the women’s group was won by the Russians, and women players from China won the second.
The basketball match was the most influential global sports event with the highest level and largest scale ever held in Yichang. Twenty-eight domestic and foreign teams took part in the matches and the foreign teams came from Romania, Indonesia, Serbia, Estonia, Belgium, Russia, Slovenia, South Korea, Australia, Japan, Mongolia, Belarus and Thailand. Among them, 16 teams participated in the challenge including a Chinese national team; 6 man teams and 6 women teams from 6 countries competed in the basketball league.
The three vs threebasketball game originated from American streets. As a popular basketball game in cities, it has developed rapidly around the world because of its easy, confrontational and interesting characteristics. In June last year, the International Olympic Committee announced that the game would become an official sports event in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
According to reports, this was the second time that the world’s top basketball competition held in Hubei after Wuhan held a basketball World Cup. It’s the first time for Hubei to host the FIBA three vs threebasketball world tour challenge.
The sports event was authorized and hosted by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), guided by the China Basketball Association (CBA), and undertaken by Yichang, with the support of the Basketball and Volleyball Management Center of the Provincial Sports Bureau, the Cultural and Tourism Bureau of Yichang, and the Xingshan County Government.
