Tourism: A total of 7.77 million “check in” Yichang
The full release of various preferential policieshas largely stimulatedpeople’senthusiasm to travel outside or pay a home visit. From October 1 to 8, the city has received 7.7796 million tourists witha total revenue of 5.29 billion yuan, 73.2% of tourists and 74.29% of the comprehensive revenue gained in the same period in 2019. From October 1 to 7, the number of tourists hit 6,986,600, and thecomprehensive revenue was4.751 billion yuan, 75.13% and 76.25% gained respectively of the same period last year, according to the report of Three Gorges Daily (Reporter Wang Ying, Correspondent Gao Jiaqingand Hu Aihua)
Allscenic spotscelebrated the National Dayin anunique way. On October1st, a flash mob, namely "Sing in chorusand welcome All Guests", was held in Qingjiang Gallery and Qu Yuan's Hometown. Every visitorwas given a small five-starred red flag at the entrance of the Three Gorges Dam and they were organized to sing together in front of the dam, a major project of China.
Various activities took placein differentscenic spots. Additional performances were added to the large-scale night tour project "Show of the Songs of Chu•Nine Songs Ceremony" inQuYuan TempleScenic Area. Volunteers, dressed in Han Fashion, wereorganizedtoprovide consultation and guidance services for touristsat the Three Gorges Waterfall. There wereother attractive and wonderful activities like the AuroraMusic Festivalin the Zhijiang Maple Rose Garden and the third Rainbow Run in the Oriental Years Scenic Area.
Theatrical performances and intangible cultural heritage projects into the scenic spots have become new highlights. A groupof famous actorsof traditional Chinese dramapresented visitors with their sensational performances, anda series ofintangible cultural heritage projectshave been exhibitedin the scenic spots. The number of scenic spot performances in our city accounted for nearly one-third of the total number of theprovince, enrichingthetourexperience of visitors coming to Yichang. On October 1st, the Yichang Municipal Art Museum and the Yichang Municipal Library jointly organized the activity of "Culture-featured Celebration for DoubleFestivals • Introduction of Intangible Cultural Heritage toScenic Spots" in Mingcuigu Scenic Area, Dianjun District.
Visitors can have access to all kinds of festival –featured activities: performances by innheritorsof intangible cultural heritagein the cultural Quyuan’s Hometown Scenic Spot,Zigui County. Traditional instrumental performances of Tujia nationality, like Daliuzi and Nanqu in the Chaibuxi Grand Canyon Scenic Area, Wufeng, a series of cultural activities in Yuquan Scenic Area,Dangyang, activities, like the display and sale of Yabo Unique Stone in Zhaojun Village, Xingshan County. The deep integration of cultural and tourism has gained popularity among visitors. ByOctober 8, 19 cultural and tourism volunteer teams, a total of 391 volunteers,have carried out 258 cultural activities in 28 scenic spots, bringing benefits to132,000 tourists.
Business: A total salesof more than 39 million yuan
According to Three Gorges Daily (Reporter Chen Xi, Correspondent Liu Zonggang), the Municipal Bureau of Commercestaff show thatconsumer market is generally stable and in good order during the festival. Of over40 retailors, hotelsand restaurantsundertight monitoring,the sales reached up to3,9592.7 thousand yuan,0.32% of year-on-year growth, without any safety incidents in the city’s commerce and trade.
The daily reports of 13 major monitoring companies of daily necessities show that living substances, like rice, flourand edible oil,are in sufficient supplywith stable prices.
The city's large supermarkets and commercial complex enterprises continuedto takea series of promotional activities to invoke consumptionof themarket. However, due to somekeyfactors, including the continuous rainydays, there is a relative decrease of the passengers compared with the previous years.The Municipal Bureau of Commerceestimated thatmarket consumption, during the festival,has dropped by about 15% compared with that in the same period last year , and sales of some supermarkets have declined, whilesomecomplexes,such as Three Gorges Global Harbor, CBD, Grand Oceanand Shuiyuecheng Shopping Center, have seen a rise in their sales.
Before the festival, there are more than 40 retailors, hotelsand restaurants in the city engaged in the activity of 2020 National Consumption Promotion Month (Yichang). According to preliminary statistics, during theperiod from September 8th to October 8th, the sales volume was about123.6637 millionyuan, a decrease of 2.03% from that in 2019, whilethe sales volume during the festival mounted to 39,592,700yuan,an increase of 0.32 compared with the same period of last year. 24 restaurants achieved a sales of about 1,131,100 yuan during the holiday, a year-on-year decrease of 38.23%and15 retail companies earnedabout 37.7116 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.12%.
Transportation: A total of 470,000 train trips made during the travel rush
Starting from September 30, our city’s airports and railway stations have ushered in a peak passenger flow. During the holiday, a total of nearly 470,000 passengers have been safely transported, according to Three Gorges Daily (Reporters Yan Xiaodong, Liu Jingjing, Correspondents Chen Long, Wang Tingtingand Qin Binglin).
The Yichang Railway Department starteditsinitiative to the upcoming travel peak period on September 28. The increasing flow of travelers, home visitors and students during the golden week has contributed to nearly 290,000 passengersat Yichang East Station, an average of 26,000 passengers per day, achievingnearly 70% of passengers flow gained in same period in 2019.Among them, the peak of the single-day passenger flow reached 35,000, representing thehighest passenger flow per day after the epidemic. Yichang East Station has provided transportationservice in an orderly way andaccurately implementedthe deployment of "One chartper day"with 14 pairs of tripsadded. Efforts have been made to operate according to thechart of rush hours andaddreconnectedtrains in order to meet passengers’ travel needs.
On October 8, Yichang Three Gorges Airport ushered in a peak with a single-day passenger flow of 10,500, an increase of 15% compared to the same period of last year. The seat rate from Yichang to popularcities, likeBeijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, arrived at aboutor over85% of its coverage . During theholiday, the Three Gorges Airport has served78,000 passengers in605 trips, hitting a new record of passenger flow since the pandemicwith dataof various items close tothe level of the previousyear.
Public Security: The picture of a running hero has gone viral
On October 6, an old man accidentally fell into the water. On this life-or-death occasion, Dong Junfeng, anauxiliarypoliceof the Xiling Brigade of the Traffic Police Detachment of Yichang Municipal Public Security Bureau, swiftly rushed to the Yangtze Riverwithin just half a minute. Despite the rapid currents, he successfully rescued the old man. OnOctober 8thDong's heroic storywas covered by the newswith a title"An old man fell into the Yangtze River and the auxiliary police rushed to rescue". Ithas been widely reportedby many mainstream media such as People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV News, and China News Network. Netizens all over the countrygave their thumb-ups toDong Junfeng, a "cool"manin people’s mind, Three Gorges Daily (Reporter Zhai Xuelian, Correspondent Du Lidong) said.
During the holiday, the city's public security organs have strengthened the overall prevention and control of social securitywith a daily average of 10,000 forces, focusing on strengthening prevention and control of patrol for the party and government agencies, urban central squares, bustling commercial districts, tourist attractions, and transportationhubslike airportsandstations. They havestrictly implementedthe requirements of the secret preventionand swift responsemechanism and madeevery effort to maintain a good social order. All these efforts have paid off. The public security organs in the city have seena sharp decline in criminal cases and case involvingpublic security, and no major criminal cases occurred.There was no long-timeand large-scale traffic congestion on the main roads.All large-scale events have been held in a safeand smoothway.
