On November 1, Ministry of Water Resources and National Development and Reform Commission announced the official full completion of Three Gorges Project, saying it has met all design requirements of the regulations and has a good overall performance, and fulfills the key roles of flood control, electricity generation, shipping and water-resource utilization. The Three Gorges Project is, by now,the world’s largest water conservancy project and the largest project with widespreadbenefits. The reviewsshow that the main body,such as dam, flood drainage and energy dissipation, diversion and power generation, navigation and Maopingxi protectionprojects,works well, and the mechanical and electrical systems and metal equipment are safe and stable.
