On December 8th, with the 243.5 tons of steel box girderof middle span suspended steadily on the central area of the bridge, Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridge, jointly constructed by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co.,Ltd and The Second Harbor Engineering Company, formally entered the stage of lifting and installation of steel box girder.
It is informed that Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridgeis an 1160-meters-span suspension bridge with orthotropic bridge plate and a steel box girder of 77 sections. The lifting sequence is synchronous and symmetrical, starting from mid-span to two banks with the closure at the side spans. Comprehensively considering the factors such as channel passage, beam segment transportation, and work efficiency, the workers are scheduled to complete an average lifting and installation of two steel box girders every day. It is expected that all lifting and installing works can be accomplished before the Spring Festival to realize the whole bridge structure connection.
