Dangyang County is one of the primary regions for summer crop production and the earliest area to see wheat harvest in Hubei. On May 16, in Caobuhu Town, farmers seized the good weather to harvest wheat in full swing, ensuring all grains gathered in and stored before the rainy season by the end of May. This year, the wheat planting area in Dangyang County reached approximately 18,000 hectares, presenting increases in area, yield per unit area and total output. The total output is expected to reach 69,100 tons, marking a 3.29% year-on-year increase. Dangyang has taken proactive measures in introduction of new high-yield varieties resistant to diseases and lodging with robust growth potential. Therefore, the rate of good seed has reached 96%. The county has also promoted technologies of formula fertilization and sustainable, efficient pest control, as well as fully mechanized operations throughout the process. Its wheat mechanized harvesting rate has reached 98.53%, effectively reducing grain loss and harvesting costs, and enhancing farmers’ grain production.
