　　During this year’s May Day holiday, the popularity of “Yangtze-based tourism” continued to rise in Yichang. The number of vessels waiting to pass through the Three Gorges hub waterway remained high, with significant increases in both passenger and cargo transport demand. According to statistics from the Three Gorges Navigation Authority, a total of 337,400 passenger trips were handled through the hub waterway during the holiday, a year-on-year increase of 2.17%, including 203,800 passenger trips (up 1.82%) and 133,900 ferry trips (up 2.94%). Meanwhile, the Three Gorges hub completed 225 lock chamber operations and handled 589 vessel passages, with total throughput reaching 2.642 million tons, up 16.2 percent year on year.
