Iguaçu, Brazil's second largest tourist center has the average annual tourists of about 7 million, and the local residents are mainly engaged in business and tourism. Itaipú Hydropower Station, the world's largest hydropower station is 12 km away from the city, and the famous Iguaçu Falls is 28 km away from the city.
On July 24, 2006, Iguaçu and Yichang signed the sister cities agreement.
